Job Overview
We are a successful Engineering company offering a stable and lucrative career in our machine shop. We require a CNC Turner – Setter/Operator, to set and operate Victor CNC Machines with Fanuc control systems. The ideal candidate will possess a versatile skill set encompassing CNC machining, mechanical knowledge, and hands on experience with various tools and processes. The successful applicant will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines, ensuring precision and efficiency in production. This position is paid and suitable for individuals eager to develop their expertise within a dynamic environment.
Qualification: Engineering apprenticeship/City and guilds / NVQ's / National tech certificate engineering.
Candidates will need to confirm their identity, employment history and address history to cover the past five years as well as their nationality, immigration status and right to work in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Victor CNC lathes
- To hand Deburr and fettle detailed components
- Quality checking own work.
- Troubleshoot and make adjustments to offset coordinates.
- Read and understand technical engineering drawings.
- Be able to read understand CNC programmes, using machine interface
- Using our manufacturing system to be able to check material availability, part requirements, part routings and issue
- Operate within a 5s manufacturing cell environment CNC turning machines with precision, adhering to technical specifications and safety standards
- Maintain machine calibration and perform basic troubleshooting to minimise downtime
- Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with health & safety regulations
Requirements
- Proven thorough experience in CNC machine tools turning.
- Must be able to setup and operate CNC mill machines.
- Mechanical knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machine maintenance
- Knowledge of Fanuc controls.
- Ability to read technical drawings and interpret specifications accurately
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in a fast paced environment
- Minimum of 3 years in a similar role.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
