We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic teacher to join our growing team supporting pupils who are unable to access on-site education. If you have high expectations and the ability to inspire and re-engage learners to reach their full potential through personalised and flexible education, we welcome your application.
QTS/QTLS required.
We are a trauma-informed school with an attached alternative provision specialising in bespoke academic support through 1:1 and very small group mental health, trauma, and SEN interventions. This role focuses on supporting and teaching pupils within their home or community setting who are unable to attend school due to SEN, SEMH, anxiety, trauma, medical needs, or other barriers to education. It is essential that candidates have strong behaviour management skills, confidence working independently, and the ability to build positive, professional relationships with both students and families.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed teacher to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and personalised teaching to pupils educated outside of the school site. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to engaging learners who may be reluctant, emotionally vulnerable, or have experienced disrupted education, and will be skilled in building trust, confidence, and positive relationships with both students and their families.
The role involves planning and delivering a broad and personalised curriculum tailored to meet individual learning needs, enabling pupils to make meaningful academic, social, and emotional progress. The successful teacher will be confident in adapting teaching approaches, differentiating learning effectively, and using trauma-informed and therapeutic strategies to support learners with a wide range of SEN and SEMH needs in a home-learning or online environment.
We are particularly interested in practitioners who bring energy, empathy, flexibility, and creativity to their teaching, making learning accessible, engaging, and motivating within the home or community setting. The ability to work independently while maintaining consistent communication with families, carers, and the wider school team is essential. Successful candidates will be proactive in identifying barriers to learning, supporting attendance and engagement, and helping families to establish positive routines and expectations around education.
The successful applicant should:
- Be able to work collaboratively within a team to create and implement bespoke learning pathways aligned with our curriculum and the individual needs of each learner
- Deliver high-quality, engaging teaching within home, online, or community settings
- Have exceptional behaviour management and de-escalation skills
- Be flexible in all aspects of teaching, learning, pastoral care, and outreach support
- Be highly organised, able to manage an independent timetable, and maintain accurate records and communication
- Have experience and understanding of the needs of children with SEN, SEMH, anxiety, trauma, or challenging behaviours, and adapt provision accordingly
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with families and external professionals to support pupil engagement and progress
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a proactive approach when liaising with parents, carers, and safeguarding professionals
- Adhere to the ethos and values of our school
Who are we looking for?
The staff member will:
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with children or families with SEN, SEMH, trauma, or challenging behaviours
- Consider safeguarding an utmost priority and demonstrate the ability to identify risk, and respond swiftly and confidently to safeguarding concerns
- Be an excellent team player while also being confident working independently in outreach and home-learning settings
- Have a strong understanding of the social and emotional barriers that may impact our students and use trauma-informed strategies to support engagement
- Follow our behaviour policy and be capable of setting clear expectations and boundaries while maintaining positive relationships
- Develop positive relationships with students and families based on our ethos of “connection before correction”
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
- Develop strong working relationships with colleagues, families, and external agencies
- Liaise effectively with the leadership team to promote positive student outcomes, wellbeing, and engagement
We can offer you:
- An exciting opportunity to be part of a trauma-informed setting supporting pupils through bespoke outreach and home-learning provision
- A supportive leadership team
- A continuously improving and expanding educational provision
- Opportunities to make a meaningful difference to students who may otherwise struggle to access education
