About the role
The School of Education and Social Work is seeking an established Primary Teacher to take on a significant role in Primary Initial Teacher Education at the University of Sussex and across our growing school Partnership.
It is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to our established Undergraduate Primary Education and Early Years course (with QTS) and PGCE in Primary (with QTS), and offer specialist subject knowledge and pedagogic expertise in Primary Education. Both courses recruit around 50 Geography students each year, and the programme is delivered in partnership with primary schools across Sussex.
Contributions to the course will include teaching on core modules, supervising students during professional practice as well as providing academic supervision for undergraduate or masters level assignments.
About you
We are seeking someone who has Qualified Teacher Status, and has significant experience and expertise in Primary Education, and Primary Teacher Education.
Ideally you will be educated to Masters level or other appropriate qualification, or appropriate level of experience. You will have excellent presentation skills, with an ability to communicate effectively to both students, colleagues and external audiences. An ability to work individually on your own initiative, yet also work as part of a team is essential.
You will have excellent organisation skills and be able to prioritise to meet deadlines, with an ability to employ strong IT skills, in order to support the production of high-quality inclusive learning materials.
It would be desirable if you have had recent experience of mentoring primary student teachers, and also interested and engaged in scholarship in education.

In the 2021 Research Excellence Framework work by the Department for Education was ranked 1st for Research Impact.
