Full job description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Phlebotomist / Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our friendly primary care team. This is a patient-facing role supporting the delivery of high-quality care within a busy GP surgery.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Carry out venepuncture safely and effectively in accordance with best practice
Collect, label, and handle specimens correctly for laboratory testing
Perform routine clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, height and weight
Assist with health checks, ECGs, and basic clinical procedures as required
Ensure patient comfort, dignity, and confidentiality at all times
Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS requirements
Adhere to infection prevention and control standards
Maintain and clean clinical equipment and work areas

Essential Requirements

Recognised UK phlebotomy qualification
Proven competency in venepuncture
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Understanding of confidentiality and data protection

Desirable

Previous experience in a GP practice or NHS setting
Experience of clinical systems (e.g. EMIS)
Healthcare Assistant experience
