An opportunity has arisen for a 34.5 hour post working within a busy Minor Injury Unit/Outpatient Department/Wards at Newquay Community Hospital.

This post requires the successful candidate to carry out minor injury treatments such as dressings, plastering, general observations and triage.

Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate will have experience working in an Urgent care/MIU/OPD and will have completed MIU skills/triage workbooks.

Work will include:

The provision of assistance to the MIU/OPD trained staff within the minor injury unit/outpatient department in planning, delivering, and evaluating care.

Providing the booking in of patients and attending to patient’s general needs in the OPD. All interventions will be carried out to a high standard under the supervision of the trained MIU/OPD practitioners

To provide A&C support as needed to members of the team.

An ability to work under pressure in an emergency setting and a willingness to undertake further skills training is essential.

NVQ 3 in Direct Care or equivalent qualification / experience

Experience

Previous experience as a HCA within a hospital setting
Experience of working in an urgent care environment / outpatient department / ward environment

Knowledge and Abilities

Computer literate and ability to use web-based IT programmes
Willingness and ability to undertake further skills training, for example, wound management and plaster cast application.
