Background
An opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join the Dispute Resolution department, within the Housing Management Team.
The role
The successful candidate will join the partner-led housing management unit which currently acts for a large number of social landlords across Wales. The team provides advice on a wide range of landlord and tenant matters including tenancy enforcement, housing related anti-social behaviour and disrepair.
Whilst the role will involve many aspects of housing management, there will be a primary focus on defending housing disrepair claims brought against housing associations and local authority landlords.
Duties will include:

Assisting team members in preparation of initial letters of advice to clients and responding to letters of claim
- Drafting court pleadings in particular defences, counterclaims, applications to strike out and trial bundles
- Instructing experts and considering their findings
- Review and analysing of client records
- Effective management of case diaries
- Taking and preparing witness statements
- Liaising with HMCTS
- Updating clients with the progress of their cases
- Dealing with telephone enquiries from clients
- Assist team with financial aspects of cases including monthly invoicing and management of disbursements incurred
- Accurately record time
Skills & Qualifications
The role will involve volume record review, so a high degree of attention to detail is essential. There will also be a requirement to maintain a detailed spreadsheet containing essential information regarding each case.
This role would ideally suit a candidate who is qualified to LPC or SQE level
The successful candidate will have excellent client care skills, strong organisational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines. They will be highly motivated, methodical, articulate and ambitious.
