Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Residential Care Home Activities Co-Ordinator to lead engaging and meaningful activities for residents. This vital role involves planning, organizing, and executing a diverse range of recreational programs tailored to enhance the quality of life for seniors, including those with memory impairments such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. The ideal candidate will bring energy, creativity, and a genuine passion for senior care, fostering a lively community environment that promotes social interaction, mental stimulation, and emotional well-being. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on residents’ daily lives while working within a supportive team dedicated to exceptional care.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a variety of engaging activities that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including recreational therapy and social events.
Coordinate special events such as outings, celebrations, and themed activities that promote community involvement and resident enjoyment.
Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities support residents’ physical, cognitive, and emotional health, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed.
Manage activity schedules efficiently to ensure all residents have access to appropriate programs throughout the week.
Foster an inclusive environment by working with residents with disabilities, memory impairments, or aging issues to encourage participation and socialization.
Maintain detailed records of activities conducted, resident participation levels, and feedback to continually improve programming.
Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote awareness of upcoming events and gather input for activity planning.

Skills

Proven experience in event planning, recreational therapy, or senior care environments such as assisted living or nursing homes.
Strong understanding of Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care strategies, and long-term care practices.
Excellent communication skills to engage residents with diverse needs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to organize schedules efficiently while managing multiple activities simultaneously.
Compassionate caregiving approach with experience assisting residents with ADLs and supporting aging issues counseling.
Knowledge of home & community care practices combined with working with people with disabilities enhances program effectiveness.
Creativity in designing stimulating activities that promote social interaction and cognitive engagement.
