Full job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The role:

You will support effective clinical care by providing an efficient Health Records service to patients, medical staff and nursing teams. You will ensure that patient appointments for outpatient clinics, day cases and inpatient admissions are administered and processed accurately, while maintaining confidentiality, secure storage and timely availability of patient health records when required.

You will also provide effective administrative, clerical and receptionist support to assist the delivery of high-quality patient care. You will maintain both electronic and paper-based patient record systems, ensuring information is accurate, confidential and kept up to date. You will also be responsible for maintaining patient demographic and administrative information through regular checking and updating of the patient management system.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Heath and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

This is a full time permanent post (36) working hours are Monday - Friday 0900-1700 (one early finish 3.30pm day to be agreed)
You will be based at Leverndale Hospital, G53 7TU - This is a GGC-wide post and you may be required to work at any NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde location.

Key responsibilities:

You will provide a comprehensive Health Records and administrative service, ensuring patient information is accurately managed, securely maintained and available to support clinical teams. You will process patient appointments, admissions and related administrative tasks while delivering a professional and efficient service to patients, medical staff and nursing teams.

You will also provide reception support, maintain patient management systems, and ensure all records are handled in line with confidentiality requirements and organisational procedures.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

National 4 or Level 1 qualification in three subjects, including English, or equivalent.
General administration, office experience or previous clerical experience is desirable.
Computer literate with good keyboard skills.
Previous reception experience is desirable.
Previous experience of using a Patient Management System would be desirable; however, training will be provided.
