About Clearsol
Clearsol Renewables is a specialist Solar PV Operations & Maintenance provider managing over 200MW of commercial and industrial solar assets across the UK. Our portfolio ranges from small commercial rooftop systems through to large-scale ground-mounted solar farms.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a Technical Manager to support our engineering and operations teams. This role is ideally suited to an experienced Solar PV engineer who is looking to transition away from site-based work and into a technical office-based position.
The Role
The Technical Manager will act as the technical link between our field engineering teams and our clients, helping to diagnose issues, develop remedial solutions, prepare quotations, and provide technical support across our portfolio.
The successful candidate will use their practical solar industry experience to review engineer reports, identify appropriate corrective actions, and ensure our clients receive clear and professional technical advice.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support & Client Communication
- Review and interpret engineer reports, inspection findings and test results.
- Analyse faults and identify appropriate remedial actions.
- Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to clients.
- Provide technical support to Asset Managers and Operations teams.
- Assist with technical aspects of client reporting and maintenance recommendations.
Quotation & Remedial Works
- Prepare quotations for corrective and remedial works.
- Develop scopes of work for engineering teams and subcontractors.
- Assess labour, equipment and material requirements.
- Support project delivery teams during larger remedial projects.
Design & Procurement
- Design and specify replacement components and remedial solutions.
- Produce technical specifications and bills of materials.
- Source and procure equipment from approved suppliers.
- Maintain awareness of industry best practice, product developments and manufacturer requirements.
Engineering Support
- Provide technical guidance to field engineers.
- Assist engineers with fault diagnosis and troubleshooting.
- Support the development of standard operating procedures and technical documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the Solar PV industry.
- Strong understanding of commercial and industrial solar PV systems.
- Experience fault-finding and troubleshooting PV systems.
- Knowledge of inverters, monitoring systems, DC systems and electrical testing.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Requirements
- Previous experience in Solar PV O&M.
- City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing.
- ECS Gold Card.
- Experience preparing technical reports and quotations.
- Experience with PV design software and electrical design.
- Knowledge of HV-connected solar installations.

Pay: £45,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
