Centre Stage Engineering designs and manufactures electrical control systems for the theatre and entertainment industry.
We work across a wide range of UK projects covering control systems, electrical design, automation, panel manufacture, installation, commissioning, and ongoing technical support.
We’re looking for a Junior Controls & Electrical Engineer to join our team, working closely alongside our Electrical Manager and Controls Engineer.
The Role
This is a junior engineering role suited to someone looking to further develop their controls, automation, and electrical design skills within a specialist engineering environment.
The position is primarily office based, with occasional site visits supporting commissioning and technical support activities.
Your existing skills will be enhanced by gaining hands-on exposure to PLC and HMI systems using the Omron Sysmac Studio platform, working alongside experienced engineers to develop your programming, fault-finding, and system design capabilities.
Alongside controls work, you’ll also support electrical design activities, helping develop your understanding of schematics, control panels, and automation systems.
As your experience grows, you’ll take on increasing responsibility and develop into a more independent engineer.
Main Responsibilities
- PLC programming, testing, and HMI configuration/support
- Support with controls system commissioning and fault finding
- Electrical schematic design using WSCAD Electrix (or similar CAD software)
- Occasional on-site installation, commissioning, and technical support
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone practical, motivated, and keen to develop within electrical controls and automation engineering.
Experience & Qualifications in PLC / HMI programming is a prerequisite and any experience or qualifications in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Omron Sysmac Studio or similar platforms
- Electrical schematic design software
- Electrical control panels or automation systems
- Electrical engineering qualification or apprenticeship background
You should also be:
- Keen to learn and develop technically
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Organised and practical in your approach
- Willing to travel across the UK when required
- Full clean UK driving licence preferred
