Job Title: School Cook
Location: Hope House School, Newark, Nottinghamshire
Hours: 25 / 30 hours per week – term time only (39 weeks)
Salary Range: £15,517 - £18,620 (Actual Salary. Dependant on hours worked)
We are seeking a reliable and experienced School Cook to join our team at Hope House School. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and serving meals to students and staff.
Hope House School, Part of the SENAD Group is a small well-established independent special school dedicated to students aged 5–19 with Autism and associated conditions. We provide a nurturing, inclusive learning environment set in beautiful open countryside just outside Newark.
Our curriculum focuses on educating the "whole child." We believe in celebrating every small step of progress, supporting our students to grow in confidence within a space where they feel safe, happy, and valued.
Main Responsibilities:
· Offer nutritionally analysed menus that are carefully prepared and appropriate in balance, colour, content, style and cost helping to raise the profile of nutritious school food with the pupils and staff
· Ensure all meals are served according to the recipes and budget provided and that the stock and any cash are accurately recorded daily and kept within agreed financial targets to control and monitor all arrears of expense to ensure achievement of the budget
· Weekly Financial reporting to Group Manager
· Ordering stock using the online ordering platform for catering and housekeeping
· Record and maintain food safety records using Reli Safe and communicate / cascade appropriate information to management and staff
· Ensure procedures for accurate receiving, appropriate storing and security of all goods are in operation
· Comply with SENAD Group and Schools policies
· Complete any training sessions requested by Senad Group and School
· Acting as the lead for the catering assistant.
Requirements
· At least 2 years’ experience as a cook in a school or similar setting
· Knowledge of safe food handling practises and regulations
· Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions
· Excellent Communication Skills
· Organised and methodical
