About Us
We are a friendly and supportive Day Care Centre dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adults with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, Down syndrome, Autism, and Acquired brain injuries. Our focus is on providing person-centred care in a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment, and having plenty of fun along the way. Life at SunCare is active and sociable: our service users are regularly out and about enjoying trips to parks, shopping trips, pub lunches, boat trips, ice skating, karaoke sessions, and seasonal outings like meeting Santa. Back at the centre, there's just as much going on, with visiting activity providers running sessions such as Sing and Sign and live drumming, alongside cooking activities, arts and crafts, and more.
The Role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Support Worker / Carer to join our team. You will play a key role in supporting individuals with their daily activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their wellbeing, dignity, and safety at all times.
No two days are the same. As well as supporting service users at the centre, you'll accompany them on regular outings and activities in the community, and join in with the sessions our visiting providers run in-house. This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys getting stuck in, whether that's singing along at karaoke, lacing up ice skates, or getting messy with arts and crafts. And if you have a talent of your own, we'd love you to bring it. Whether it's balloon modelling, crafts, music, cooking, or something we haven't thought of yet, staff who can contribute their own skills to our activity programme are warmly welcomed.
This role involves providing intimate personal care, including continence pad changes, for both male and female service users. This is an essential part of the role and all applicants must be comfortable providing this level of care with dignity and respect. Full training is provided.
We are recruiting for ongoing, long-term positions rather than short-term or temporary cover. Because our service users rely on consistency and familiar faces, we offer regular weekly hours and in return need staff whose availability is fixed and guaranteed. Your working day(s) must be the same each week and cannot rotate or change. This role is not suitable for applicants whose availability depends on a changing rota from another job (for example, rotating hospital, warehouse, or agency shift patterns), as we are unable to accommodate week-to-week changes.
Applicants should state in their application which shift pattern they are applying for: 9:15am – 3:00pm, 9:15am – 4:30pm, or the afternoon-only 3:00pm – 4:30pm shift, and which day(s) they can commit to permanently.
Key Responsibilities
- Support service users with daily activities and personal care, including intimate care and continence support for both male and female service users
- Assist in rehabilitation and therapeutic activities under the guidance of senior staff
- Accompany and support service users on community outings and activities, including trips to parks, shops, restaurants, and seasonal events
- Take part in and support in-house activity sessions, including those led by visiting activity providers

- Monitor and report any changes in service users' health, behaviour, or wellbeing
- Maintain a safe environment by following Health & Safety, Fire Safety, and Infection Control procedures
- Ensure proper hygiene standards and correct segregation of waste in line with regulations
- Respect and promote the dignity, privacy, and rights of all service users
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately in line with company policy
- Work collaboratively with the team and attend staff meetings and training sessions
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and professional standards
What We're Looking For
- A caring, patient, and empathetic nature
- Willingness to provide intimate personal care to service users of both genders
- Ability to work well within a team and follow guidance from senior staff
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn

- Looking for a long-term role: we are not recruiting for short-term or temporary cover
- Fixed, permanent weekly availability: your committed day(s) and shift must not be subject to change due to other work commitments
- Previous experience in care/support work is desirable but not essential (full training provided)
- Applicants must be able to provide two satisfactory references as part of the recruitment process
Right to Work
We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role, now or in the future. Applicants must already hold the right to work in the UK, and evidence of this will be required before employment commences.
What We Offer
- A varied, active role with regular outings and activities alongside our service users, not just centre-based work

- Full training and ongoing professional development
- Supportive and friendly working environment
- Opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives
- Regular, consistent weekday hours on the same day(s) each week, with no evening shifts
