About the role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join the team delivering the Birkhill Wood Substation project in Cottingham.
The successful candidate will take ownership of all quality management activities across the project lifecycle. You will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of quality processes, ensuring all works are delivered safely, compliantly, and Right First Time.
Working closely with project delivery teams, clients, supply chain partners, and stakeholders, you will drive a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement across this major energy infrastructure project.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the project Quality Management Plan and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
- Ensure project teams and supply chain partners comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, and quality standards.
- Monitor and report quality performance against agreed project KPIs.
- Establish and maintain quality control processes that provide assurance that assets are delivered as designed and specified.
- Support project teams in the effective use of digital quality and governance systems.
- Manage non-conformances, corrective actions, and lessons learned activities.
- Undertake internal audits in line with project requirements and support external certification audits.
- Coordinate the production, review, and handover of project quality documentation.
- Deliver quality training, coaching, and awareness sessions for project teams and supply chain partners.
- Lead investigations into quality-related issues and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
- Promote the sharing of best practice and drive continual improvement initiatives across the project.
Who we're looking for
You will be an experienced quality professional with a strong background in major infrastructure, utilities, or construction projects.
You will also have:
- Previous experience in a Quality Manager, Senior Quality Engineer, or Senior Quality Advisor position.
- Experience working on power transmission, substations, energy, utilities, or other highly regulated infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, assurance methodologies, and continuous improvement processes.
- A Level 4 qualification or above in Quality, Construction, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
- Membership of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) at Affiliate level (ACQI) or above.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor qualification.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- An understanding of change management principles and a proactive approach to driving improvement.
