Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Paint and Bodyshop Prepper to join our professional team. This role involves preparing vehicles for painting and bodywork repairs. We deal with both new and Classic cars so the work is certainly varied . Main responsibilities are ensuring surfaces are properly cleaned, filled or repaired as required sanded, and primed to achieve a high-quality finish ready for final prep and paint. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge, be comfortable using hand and power tools, and be capable of heavy lifting. Responsibilities
- Clean and prepare vehicle surfaces by removing dirt, rust, and old paint using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Sand, grind, and mask areas to ensure smooth surfaces for painting or repairs.
- Apply primers and other preparatory coatings as required, following safety protocols.
- Use hand tools such as scrapers, sanders, and brushes to achieve precise preparation work.
- Operate power tools safely and effectively during the preparation process.
- Assist with heavy lifting of vehicle parts or panels to facilitate repairs or painting procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to promote safety and efficiency.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines during preparation tasks to minimise risks.
Experience
- Prior experience in a bodyshop or automotive repair environment is definitely advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
- Mechanical knowledge is desirable to understand vehicle components and repair processes.
- Familiarity with hand tools such as scrapers, sanders, brushes, and masking equipment.
- Experience using power tools safely in a workshop setting is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during preparation tasks.
- A proactive attitude with a keen eye for detail and quality workmanship.
