Background
We currently have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join our award-winning Court of Protection department.
Our Court of Protection department specialises in supporting brain injury survivors with the administration of their property and financial affairs, to include decision making within the remit of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
Our Court of Protection teams work closely with clients and their families to ensure that the needs of each client are being met, whilst ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Court and the Office of the Public Guardian. We take pride in ensuring that our clients are empowered to make their own decisions wherever possible, and when our input is required, we ensure that all decisions made on behalf of our clients are made in their best interests.
The role
Duties will include:

Assisting with Court of Protection applications
- Dealing with financial aspects of individual’s lives, to include assisting with the long-term investment of compensation awards.
- Administering deputyship bank accounts on behalf of clients
- Record keeping
- Instructing and liaising with professionals to support our clients, including Case Managers and Therapists
- Communicating effectively with clients, their families and healthcare professionals
- Liaising with the client and other departments within the firm in relation to conveyancing, employment, private client, and family matters
- Assisting in the administration of personal injury trusts and supporting the trustees in decisions made for the beneficiaries.
Skills and Qualifications
The role will involve communication with clients via the telephone and in person; therefore, excellent interpersonal skills are essential along with a good telephone manner. You might be expected to travel to meet clients and their families.
The successful candidate will be organised, responsible and a good team player.
This role would ideally suit law graduates or those with similar academic achievements. Full training will be provided.
