Job Overview

Essex Elite Sports Coaching is a specialist education provider working in partnership with schools across Essex to deliver outstanding Physical Education, SEND support and inclusive physical activity programmes.

We are looking for a passionate, caring and proactive SEND Education & Physical Activity Practitioner to join our growing team.

This is far more than a sports coaching role. You will become an integral member of school staff, supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs both inside and outside the classroom. Every day is different, providing a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine impact on children's education, wellbeing and personal development.

Alongside delivering engaging Physical Education and physical activity sessions, you will support teaching and learning within the classroom, work as a Learning Support Assistant (LSA), deliver targeted interventions, assist with educational visits and enrichment activities, and help pupils develop confidence, communication, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Whether your background is in SEND, education, youth work or physical activity, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference. Full training and ongoing professional development will be provided to help you succeed within our specialist education team.

Main Responsibilities

As a SEND Education & Physical Activity Practitioner you will:

Deliver engaging, inclusive and high-quality Physical Education lessons.
Plan and deliver physical activity sessions that meet the needs of pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs.
Support pupils within the classroom as part of the wider school team.
Provide Learning Support Assistant (LSA) support throughout the school day.
Deliver one-to-one and small-group interventions to support individual learning and development targets.
Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, behaviour and social interaction.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and help them develop confidence and independence.
Adapt activities and learning to meet individual needs and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Assist with educational visits, enrichment activities and community-based learning opportunities.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, school leaders and external professionals.
Promote inclusion and ensure every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Maintain accurate records where required.
Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding, professionalism and conduct.
Represent Essex Elite Sports Coaching professionally at all times.

Experience

Sports Coach with SEND experience
Physical Education Graduate
Education or Psychology Graduate

Experience delivering Physical Education is desirable but not essential, as full training and mentoring will be provided.

Essential Requirements

Experience working with children or young people.
A genuine passion for Special Educational Needs and inclusive education.
Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one).
Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own vehicle.

Desirable Qualifications

Level 2 or above Supporting Teaching & Learning.
Sports Coaching or Physical Education qualification.
Behaviour management training (e.g. Team Teach, PRICE or equivalent).
Safeguarding qualification.
First Aid qualification.
