From security design engineers creating solutions for global threats to technical installers guarding the UKs most sensitive assets in real time, this team provides the full spectrum of protection for the UK around the world. Now, youve got the opportunity to join them.

Communicate your technical security expertise every day
UK NACE sits at the centre of government security. As a Technical Security Advisor, you'll play a pivotal role in protecting UK interests, working closely with teams and departments across government and critical national infrastructure to keep the nation's most sensitive assets safe.
The technical security threat landscape never stands still, and neither do we. You'll work across His Majesty's Government, Five Eyes and other international allies, academia and industry; communicating the guidance, policy and standards that UK NACE sets. Your reach will be significant. From direct briefings with ministers and director generals to speaking at national and international conferences, you'll be a trusted, influential voice on technical security at the highest levels.
Collaboration is at the heart of this role. You'll partner with security professionals across UK Government and the Critical National Infrastructure to deliver technical security advice, guidance and publications that make a real difference. Working with the wider team, you'll help shape policy and standards over a one-to-five-year horizon, ensuring they remain effective against threats that are always evolving. You'll also draw on your expertise to develop content for platforms including the Government intranet and external-facing websites.
This is a role for someone who combines deep technical knowledge with a confident, clear communication style, and we'll support you to develop both further. As the team is still being built, you'll have a genuine hand in shaping its culture from the ground up. Beyond that, you'll grow an extensive network of security professionals and colleagues right across government.
You: a perfect pairing of technical knowledge and personability
You're a confident, engaging communicator; as comfortable presenting to a room as you are in a one-to-one conversation. You know how to deliver a message with impact, build rapport quickly, and hold your own when a discussion takes an unexpected turn. Most importantly, you can translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language that anyone can understand. You'll bring a track record of influencing senior stakeholders and earning their trust within the security community.
On the technical side, you'll have strong knowledge of security frameworks, a deep understanding of state-actor threats and vulnerabilities, and familiarity with technical countermeasures and how they're applied in practice. You'll also bring foundation degree level knowledge (or equivalent) of relevant engineering and scientific principles such as applied physics, electronics, acoustics, thermodynamics, digital signal processing and mechanics, alongside an A Level 3 qualification in Physics, Engineering or Technology. Other relevant qualifications are equally welcome, such as a Level 5 Security qualification or membership of a recognised security institute.
Experience in technical security, delivering projects across broader security disciplines, or working within government security would be a real advantage.
A few practical points worth knowing: this role offers minimal opportunities for home working, as you'll spend most of your time in the office or out delivering. You'll travel regularly across the UK, so a full driving licence is essential.
Discover the support you need to grow your career further
A healthy work-life balance starts with giving you the time you need. Youll enjoy a holiday allowance of 25 days, rising to 30 days based on your length of service, a competitive salary, and a Civil Service Pension.
