Full job description

Job Summary

We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Store Detective to protect our retail environment from theft and misconduct. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring store premises through surveillance, conducting patrols, and ensuring a safe shopping experience for customers and staff alike. This role offers an opportunity to utilise your keen observational skills and contribute to maintaining a secure shopping environment.

Duties

Conduct regular surveillance of store areas using CCTV systems and physical patrols to deter theft and identify suspicious activity.
Monitor customer and staff behaviour, intervening when necessary to prevent theft or misconduct.
Write detailed reports on incidents, suspicious activities, or security breaches, ensuring accurate documentation for management review.
Collaborate with store management and security personnel to develop strategies for loss prevention.
Maintain a visible presence within the store to reassure customers and staff of their safety.
Ensure all security equipment is functioning correctly and report any malfunctions promptly.

Qualifications

Prior experience in surveillance, security, or loss prevention is preferred but not essential.
Strong observational skills with the ability to recognise suspicious behaviour swiftly.
Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail.
First aid certification is desirable; training can be provided if necessary.
Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends if required.
