Full job description

Role Overview
As a Community Children’s Support Worker, you will deliver practical, emotional, and social support directly to children and young people in their homes and local community settings. You will be responsible for creating safe, engaging, and positive environments that help young people develop coping strategies, build social skills, and access recreational activities. This is a highly rewarding role where your daily interactions will directly contribute to a child's confidence, safety, and independence.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored practical and emotional support to children and young people based on their individual care and support plans.
Accompany children to community-based activities, clubs, and appointments, promoting social inclusion and physical well-being.
Assist with daily living skills, emotional regulation, and where necessary, personal care, while consistently encouraging self-reliance.
Build strong, trusting, and professional relationships with families and carers to offer guidance and help them navigate challenges.
Work collaboratively with external agencies, including schools, social services, and healthcare providers, to ensure a cohesive approach to safeguarding and care.
Maintain accurate, objective, and up-to-date digital records of daily interactions, progress milestones, and any risk management updates.
Strictly adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety, welfare, and protection of children at all times.

Requirements and Qualifications

Prior experience working with children or young people in a professional or voluntary capacity, such as social care, education, youth work, or healthcare.
A warm, resilient, and patient personality with an ability to communicate effectively with children of varying ages and communication abilities.
An understanding of the emotional, social, and developmental needs of children, as well as an awareness of child protection and safeguarding principles.
Strong organizational skills and the capacity to handle challenging behaviors or emotionally sensitive situations calmly.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle for business use is essential, as the role involves traveling to various community locations.
An NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce, Health and Social Care, or a willingness to work towards one, is highly desirable.
