About the role
At West Northants Council, it’s about our people and the difference they make every day. As a Payroll Services Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting colleagues across the organisation by ensuring they are paid accurately and on time. Working within a busy and supportive team, you’ll help deliver a reliable, high-quality payroll service that underpins the smooth running of the Council. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a professional environment where attention to detail and teamwork are highly valued.
What will you be doing?
You’ll support the delivery of payroll services from start to finish, helping to ensure all payments, adjustments and records are processed accurately and in line with legislation and internal policies. You’ll work with a range of systems to manage employee data, resolve queries and support payroll processes, while liaising with colleagues and stakeholders to provide clear and timely information. As part of the role, you’ll help maintain accurate records, support audits and contribute to continuous improvement across the service, ensuring processes remain efficient, compliant and customer-focused.
About you
You’re a detail-focused and organised individual who enjoys working with data and getting things right. You have good numerical and IT skills, along with the ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. A confident communicator, you can explain information clearly and support colleagues with queries in a professional and approachable way. Whether you already have payroll experience or are looking to build on your knowledge, you’re proactive, reliable and committed to delivering high-quality work, reflecting our THRIVE values in everything you do.
