We are currently recruiting for a Production Manager to manage the Finished Goods, Customer Despatch, Intake Schedule and Yard functions within the Operation. The manager will also ensure that the team is managed in a fair and consistent manner in line with company policies and procedures (Food Safety, Quality, HR, Health & Safety). The successful candidate will also ensure that the team know how to carry out their roles effectively and is appropriately trained to do so and will be responsible for driving performance vs targets through regular monitoring.
The main duties of the role are as follows:
- To take ownership and responsibility for Finished Goods inventory / Despatch / Packaging store / Intake schedule / Yard service area and all related functions
- To appropriately people manage the team through the correct people management processes, regarding training, performance, absence, conduct etc.
- Ensure products are handled in accordance with customer specification tolerances, legislation, HACCP and food safety requirements as outlined in the Quality Management System.
- Ensure Process Control / Quality Control documentation is maintained, and any associated Quality Management System procedures are followed, to provide a complete record of product manufactured.
- To maintain standards of quality, legality, food safety, hygiene, and housekeeping within your area through Good Manufacturing Practice (G.M.P.) to ensure that both Business and customer standards are kept, and audit requirements are fully met.
- Ensuring the correct stock rotation of finished goods and reduction of residual stocks in conditioning fridge and blast freezer.
- Ensuring that all despatch processes are strictly followed i.e., temperature checks and recording of correct information.
- Ensure effective and timely communication to the team and management through the appropriate channels;
- Ensure standards of internal and external customer service are met;
- Drive and evaluate performance vs target through regular monitoring
- Drive continuous improvement within your area
- Actively participate in DRMs
- Ensure that effective housekeeping standards are met and maintained through-out the course of your shift.
Skills; Qualifications & Experience required:
- 3+ years' experience leading teams within an FMCG chilled/frozen manufacturing environment
- Methodical and organized.
- Previous experience of managing and motivating a team
- Computer literate with a good working knowledge of spreadsheets. Familiar with Microsoft office software packages, including Word and Excel.
- Ability to work to strict deadlines with minimal supervision
- General administration skills
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with changing priorities
- Ability to pay a great attention to detail
- Highly organised and ability to multitask.
- Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and verbal with strong attention to detail
- Good numeracy and literacy skills (including written and spoken English)
- Self-motivation and the ability to work on own initiative
- Drive, energy and enthusiasm
