Job Summary
Park Avenue and Kings Heath Health is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Salaried GP to join our friendly, forward-thinking practice team in Northampton. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP looking to deliver high-quality, patient-centred primary care within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive general medical services to registered patients, including surgery consultations, telephone/video triage, home visits, on-call duties, and clinical administration.
Sessions: 4–6 sessions per week (part-time or full-time considered)
Hours of Work: Surgery operates between 8:00am and 6:30pm. Sessions will be arranged flexibly across this period by mutual agreement, typically comprising morning and afternoon surgeries with protected time for administration, home visits, and on-call duties.
Salary: Competitive, in line with BMA salaried GP model contract / local pay scales, dependent on experience (details available on application/at interview).
Reporting To: Managing/Senior Partner
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical
● Provide general medical services to patients in accordance with the practice's core hours (8:00am–6:30pm)
● Undertake face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations as required
● Conduct home visits for patients unable to attend the surgery
● Participate in the practice's on-call/duty doctor rota, managing urgent same-day cases and triage
● Make appropriate referrals to secondary care, allied health professionals, and other agencies
● Prescribe in accordance with the practice's prescribing formulary and local/national guidance
● Contribute to chronic disease management and QOF-related clinics as required
● Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using the practice's clinical system (e.g. SystmOne/EMIS)
Administration
● Manage and action incoming pathology, radiology, and other diagnostic results in a timely manner
● Review and action incoming letters, discharge summaries, and correspondence
● Complete reports, forms, and insurance/medical-legal documentation as required
● Undertake medication reviews and repeat prescription authorisation
● Participate in significant event analysis, audit, and clinical governance activities
● Support the practice in meeting CQC and other regulatory requirements
Professional
● Maintain GMC registration and licence to practise, and remain on the National Performers List
● Participate in the practice's appraisal and revalidation processes
● Engage in continuing professional development (CPD) in line with GMC/RCGP requirements
● Work collaboratively with GP partners, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, and administrative staff
● Attend and contribute to practice meetings, clinical meetings, and multidisciplinary team discussions
● Adhere to practice policies, including safeguarding, infection control, and information governance
Person Specification
Essential
● Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
● MRCGP (or equivalent) / inclusion on the National Performers List
● Evidence of satisfactory annual appraisal
● Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
● Strong clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality
● IT literacy, including experience with clinical systems (SystmOne/EMIS preferred)
Desirable
● Experience working within an NHS primary care setting in the UK
● Special clinical interest(s) relevant to practice population needs
● Experience with QOF, chronic disease management, and minor illness clinics
● Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (for home visits)
