Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to join our brand-new hot dip galvanising plant. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining plant equipment, machinery, cranes, pumps, conveyors, and production systems to ensure safe and efficient operation across the site.

This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience who enjoys problem-solving, working in a fast-paced industrial environment, and helping build a high-performing maintenance culture from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance across all plant equipment
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and minimise downtime
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults
Maintain galvanising plant equipment including:
Overhead cranes
Pumps and pipe systems
Fans and extraction systems
Burners and heating systems
Conveyors and lifting equipment
Jigging equipment and production tools
Conduct daily inspections and safety checks on machinery
Repair or replace faulty components and parts
Work closely with production teams to ensure smooth plant operation
Maintain maintenance records and complete work reports
Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
Support continuous improvement projects across the facility
Help maintain high housekeeping and safety standards within the workshop and plant areas

Requirements:

Essential

Previous maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
Good mechanical fault-finding ability
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong awareness of health and safety procedures
Good communication and organisational skills
Flexible attitude and willingness to respond to breakdowns when required

Desirable

Electrical qualification or experience
Experience with overhead cranes or lifting equipment
Welding and fabrication skills
Knowledge of pneumatics, and motors
Forklift or MEWP qualifications

Pay: £30,000.00-£38,000.00 per year
