Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure optimal operational performance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems. The position requires a proactive approach to vehicle maintenance, safety compliance, and customer service.

Duties

Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HGVs, including engines, brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems.
Diagnose faults using schematics and electrical testing tools; perform repairs or replacements as necessary.
Fabricate or modify components using welding, soldering, and assembly techniques to meet specific repair requirements.
Utilise hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to carry out repairs efficiently and safely.
Perform welding and fabrication tasks to repair structural components of vehicles or equipment.
Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities in accordance with company standards
Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding repair status and recommendations.

Skills

Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in heavy vehicle repair and maintenance.
Electrical experience including reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting electrical faults.
Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment for repairs and modifications.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical or electrical issues efficiently.
Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively whilst adhering to safety protocols.
Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude when liaising with clients or team members.

Pay: £26,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
