£13.53 per hour | 25 hours per week | Permanent | Norwich
Wensum Sports Centre is a busy community charity in Norwich with over 50,000 visits a year. We have a sports hall, squash courts, a gym, and a growing bar and café that's become a real hub of the centre. We're looking for someone who can lead our hospitality operation and contribute towards increasing our social media presence — and who genuinely wants to do both.
What the role involves
You'll split your time between two things that complement each other naturally.
On the hospitality side
You'll run the day-to-day operation of our bar and café. This includes, taking stock counts, setting service standards, promoting good hygiene practice and planning and designing seasonal menus. You will assist the wider management team on improvements in the cafe and will have an eye for potential. The team of leisure attendants who report to you will look to you on setting the tone for how the space feels and in making sure it runs well.
On the creative side
You'll have the freedom to shape our digital presence. This includes planning, scheduling and posting content, designing visuals (utilising Canva or similar) and working on increasing our community engagement. You will also use your creativity as a tool to create a positive impact in the cafe's aesthetics.
What we're actually looking for
We're not going to list twenty criteria. Here's what genuinely matters:
- You're confident running a bar or café. You know what good looks like and you hold that standard without being told to
- You genuinely enjoy creating social media content, not just posting, but thinking about what works, trends, and what the community actually wants to see
- You take ownership. If something needs doing, you do it. If something's not right, you say so
- You're warm, reliable, and the kind of presence that makes a space feel welcoming
- You have a genuine passion in being apart of a charitable cause for your local community
- Food hygiene knowledge (or willingness to get it quickly) and confidence on social media platforms are the only hard requirements
Barista experience, Canva skills, photography, or events experience are all genuinely useful — but none of them are dealbreakers if the above is true.
What you'll get
- £13.53 per hour
- 25 hours per week on a permanent contract
- Real creative responsibility
- A genuinely varied working week across hospitality, content and team leadership
- A supportive management team that is actively investing in the people around them
- The chance to be a visible, valued part of a facility that matters to its community
Hours and structure
25 hours per week across a mix of daytime and some evening/weekend shifts. You'll report to our Deputy Manager and work closely with the wider supervisory team.

Apply via Indeed with your CV. If you want to tell us something about yourself that a CV doesn't capture such as a link to content you've made, a social account you've run, or something you've built then please follow up with a message and include it. We'll read it.
