Full job description

About the Role

Oak Street Medical Practice is looking for a friendly, organised and motivated receptionist / patient care advisor to join our busy and supportive patient services team. We would welcome applications from those looking to work either part-time or full-time, with hours from 19-37 a week on offer.

This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of the practice, providing a combination of patient-facing reception duties, care navigation, prescription administration and back-office support. As one of the first points of contact for our patients, you will play an important role in helping people access the right care and services while ensuring a positive patient experience.

Working closely with clinicians and colleagues across the practice, you will support the smooth day-to-day operation of the surgery and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities may include:

Welcoming patients and visitors to the practice and providing a professional and friendly reception service.
Managing patient enquiries, appointments and requests both face-to-face and by telephone.
Supporting care navigation by directing patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional or service.
Processing repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice procedures.
Supporting the administration of clinical services, including vasectomy referrals and reports.
Processing clinical correspondence and maintaining accurate patient records.
Summarising patient records where appropriate.
Supporting online consultation systems, including Anima.
Scanning, filing and managing electronic documentation.
Undertaking a range of general administrative duties to support clinicians and the wider practice team.
Working flexibly across reception, patient services, prescriptions and administration functions as required.

This position offers flexibility, with applications welcomed from candidates seeking either part-time or full-time hours.

About the Candidate

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable individual who enjoys working with people and takes pride in delivering excellent customer service.

The successful candidate will:

Have experience working in a busy, customer-facing environment.
Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Be confident using IT systems and administrative software.
Possess strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Be able to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Demonstrate professionalism, empathy and discretion when dealing with patients.
Work well independently and as part of a team.
Be committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering high standards of patient care.

Previous experience within a GP practice, NHS, healthcare or pharmacy setting would be advantageous, as would knowledge of SystmOne, although full training will be provided.
