TheCanoeMan is reliant on a small team of dedicated and highly flexible individuals, to provide a unique eco-friendly and fun way to see Norfolk’s waterways. The team operates the largest hire fleet of canoes, kayak’s and paddle-boards in the country, offering guided trails and personalised adventure days / weekends. We are now seeking to increase our team coming into the hire period and want to find customer focused individuals who enjoy working in the outdoors, are flexible in their work ethic, have the ability to work unsupervised and have reasonable level of fitness. (Manual handing of the hire craft is required) No specific experience is required as training will be provided, but good communication skills are a must.
This role suits University students, fit retired individuals looking to get out for a few days a week or anyone looking for a short term position.
Main Role
The main responsibilities will be to giving safety briefings, assisting and launching customers hiring canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle-boards from our bases at:
- Wroxham
- Norwich
Responsibilities:
- meeting and greeting customers
- safety briefings, ensuring all equipment hired is in good condition and fitted appropriately giving basic instruction on how to paddle. (If required)
- Assisting in launching customers in canoes, kayaks and SUPs (Stand up Paddle-Boards)
- cleaning and maintaining equipment.
- assisting instructors when needed in preparation for lessons and trails

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will be flexible, reliable, punctual, a good communicator with a customer focused approach. Being able to paddle is not necessary as all training will be given, however being happy to work outdoors by the water in all weather is!
Applicants need to be 18 years or older, lifting and manoeuvring canoes and kayaks is required in this role along with lone working at our sites, reasonable physical fitness is required.
Basic IT skills required.
Own transport is an advantage, but not essential. We will try to accommodate local working but this cannot be guaranteed. ( Full and part-time roles are available. Weekend availability is essential. Positions will run 3/4 shifts per week in August, with September's schedule weekends plus some weekdays depending on weather.

- We operate 7 days a week so working days are negotiable, weekend working is a must.
- Start time 0830hrs. Finish time flexible dependant on bookings latest 1900hrs.
