Weekend shifts available throughout the summer and beyond.
Additional weekday and school holiday shifts may also be available.
Typical shifts:
- 09:00 – 16:00
- 15:00 – 22:00
Applicants should be available to work regular weekends and be willing to work additional shifts during school holidays when required.
About GelBlaster Battlezone
GelBlaster Battlezone is Norwich's newest glow-in-the-dark action experience located in Castle Quarter Shopping Centre.
Players aged 6+ battle it out in our immersive UV-lit arena using GelBlasters that fire water-based gellets. Alongside our regular gameplay sessions, we host birthday parties, family experiences, group bookings, team-building events and special events throughout the year.
At Battlezone, we're not simply looking for staff.
We're looking for energetic, enthusiastic and confident people who can create unforgettable experiences for our guests.
The right person will love working with children and families, enjoy being the centre of attention and have the confidence to bring energy and excitement to every session.
The Role
A Battlezone Host is much more than a receptionist or games marshal.
You are an entertainer, party host, customer service superstar and experience creator.
Your job is to make every customer feel welcomed, involved and excited from the moment they walk through the door until the moment they leave.
Whether you're helping a nervous six-year-old feel confident, hosting a birthday party, dancing to YMCA between games, selling a slushy or encouraging players during a battle, you will play a key role in creating the atmosphere that makes Battlezone special.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating Amazing Experiences
- Welcome guests upon arrival
- Learn customers' names and use them throughout their visit
- Build excitement before games begin
- Engage with children, teenagers, parents and grandparents
- Create a fun, energetic and inclusive atmosphere
- Help nervous or first-time players feel comfortable
- Celebrate birthdays and special occasions
- Encourage players and maintain high energy levels throughout sessions
- Ensure every customer leaves with a positive experience
Party Hosting
- Host birthday parties and group bookings
- Make birthday children feel like VIPs
- Lead party groups through activities and games
- Organise party tables and refreshments
- Create memorable moments for party guests
- Deliver an outstanding experience from start to finish

Game Hosting & Arena Operations
- Deliver engaging safety briefings
- Explain game rules clearly and confidently
- Lead gameplay sessions
- Encourage participation and teamwork
- Monitor safe gameplay at all times
- Ensure customers follow all safety procedures
- Maintain a fun and energetic environment throughout gameplay
Customer Service & Sales
- Process walk-in admissions
- Take bookings and payments
- Answer customer enquiries
- Sell slushies, drinks and snacks
- Promote birthday party packages
- Upsell additional gellet hoppers and upgrades
- Promote special offers and loyalty rewards
- Encourage repeat visits and future bookings
Venue Operations
- Refill gellet hoppers
- Clean and sanitise masks and equipment
- Charge equipment between sessions
- Keep customer areas clean and presentable
- Assist with stock management
- Support opening and closing procedures
- Report any maintenance or equipment issues

A great Battlezone Host doesn't stand behind a counter waiting for customers to approach them.
They actively engage with customers, ask questions, create conversations and make every player feel involved.
Examples include:

- "Who's the birthday VIP today?"
- "Who thinks they're going to win?"
- "Who's played before?"
- "Who's the best shot in the family?"
They're always looking for ways to make the experience more memorable.
Creating The Battlezone Atmosphere
We want our hosts to bring energy and excitement to every session.
This may include:
- Leading countdowns before games begin
- Celebrating great shots and achievements
- Dancing and interacting with guests between games
- Encouraging participation from shy players
- Joining in with music and venue activities
- Creating a fun and welcoming atmosphere
Whether it's dancing to YMCA, leading a birthday celebration or getting everyone excited before a game starts, our hosts are expected to bring the fun.
Skills & Qualities Essential
- Minimum age 16
- Reliable and punctual
- Friendly and approachable
- Confident speaking to groups
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working with children and families
- Positive attitude
- High energy and enthusiasm
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Willingness to learn
- Available for regular weekend work
Desirable
- Experience working with children
- Customer service experience
- Hospitality experience
- Sports coaching or activity leadership experience
- First Aid qualification
- Experience hosting parties, events or group activities
