Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Nurse to serve as a Unit Manager to oversee dementia and nursing care within our dedicated care home. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of healthcare professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents with complex needs. This role requires a proactive leader with strong clinical skills, particularly in dementia and senior care, and a commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of our residents.

Duties

Lead and supervise nursing staff and care assistants, fostering a collaborative team environment.
Develop and implement personalised care plans for residents with dementia, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Oversee medication administration, ensuring accuracy and adherence to prescribed protocols.
Coordinate case management activities, including assessments and ongoing evaluations of residents’ needs.
Monitor the delivery of patient care, providing guidance and support to staff to optimise outcomes.
Maintain detailed documentation in accordance with legal and organisational requirements.
Liaise with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies to coordinate comprehensive care services.
Organise staff rotas, training sessions, and professional development activities to ensure team competence.
Uphold health and safety standards within the unit, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
Support residents with disabilities or special needs, including those requiring hospice or home care services.

Skills

Proven experience in nursing home environments specialising in dementia or senior care.
Strong leadership and team management skills with previous supervising experience.
Excellent understanding of assisted living, hospice care, ICU procedures, and case management.
Knowledge of anatomy, medication administration, medical imaging, laboratory procedures, and laboratory experience is advantageous.
Compassionate approach to patient care with the ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or complex health conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease.
Effective communication skills for liaising with families, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies.
Organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently under pressure.
Familiarity with working with children or toddlers is a plus but not essential. This role offers an opportunity to lead a dedicated team in providing exceptional dementia care while supporting residents’ dignity and independence in a nurturing environment.

Pay: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
