£180 per day | 40 hours per week | Free CPD-accredited training provided | Swadlincote | September Start

Do you have a calm, structured teaching style and the confidence to engage pupils with autism and communication needs?
Are you motivated by helping young people access learning through practical, adapted, and engaging approaches?

Aspira Education are recruiting a confident and adaptable Food Technology Teacher / Instructor to work within a specialist secondary setting supporting pupils aged 11–16 with autism and associated social communication, sensory, and emotional regulation needs.

This is a highly supportive environment with small classes and strong classroom support, where consistency, patience, and clear routines are key to success.

Hours

37 hours per week

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 8.10am – 3.50pm
Thursday: 8.10am – 4.20pm
Friday: 8.10am – 3.40pm

About the Role

As a Food Technology Teacher / Instructor, you will:

Deliver engaging and adapted lessons across KS3–KS4 within small class groups
Differentiate learning for pupils with ASD, anxiety, and communication needs
Use practical and structured approaches to support engagement and understanding
Create a calm, predictable classroom with consistent routines and expectations
Use clear behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
Work closely with TAs and therapeutic staff to support whole-child development

About the School

This is a PRU in Swadlincote supporting pupils aged 5–16 with autism, ADHD and associated needs such as SEMH.

The school focuses on developing social communication, emotional regulation, and independence skills to help pupils overcome barriers to learning and prepare for further education or employment.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome applicants who:

Have QTS (preferred but not essential)
Or have strong classroom experience as an unqualified teacher, instructor, or cover supervisor within a similar setting
Have experience supporting SEN, ASD, or SEMH pupils (desirable)
Can remain calm, patient, and consistent under pressure
Build rapport quickly while maintaining clear boundaries
Are confident adapting lessons to meet individual needs

Presence, structure, and adaptability matter most in this setting.

All Applicants Must Have

The right to work in the UK
An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Two recent references
A willingness to complete safeguarding training with Aspira
Ability to start ASAP
