Working closely with colleagues, alumni, parents, donors, and friends of the School, the successful candidates will contribute to cultivating meaningful relationships, inspiring philanthropic support, delivering high-quality communications and events, and helping to realise the School’s ambitious strategic development objectives. The Archivist is responsible for the preservation, management, and development of the School’ s Archive, ensuring its collections are protected, accessible, and effectively used to support heritage, alumni engagement, fundraising, and institutional storytelling. The role will lead archive cataloguing, digitisation initiatives, research services, and public engagement activities, helping to bring the School’ s history to life for a wide range of audiences.
Archive Management
- Manage, catalogue, and preserve the School’ s archive collections in accordance with professional standards.
- Develop and maintain archive policies, procedures, and collections management systems. Ensure appropriate conservation, storage, and handling of archival materials.
- Maintain accurate records of acquisitions, loans, and archive holdings.
Digitisation and Access
- Lead archive digitisation projects to improve preservation and accessibility.
- Develop and maintain digital archive resources and collections.
- Support online archive initiatives and digital preservation activities.
- Facilitate access to archive materials for staff, alumni, researchers, and other stakeholders.
Storytelling and Engagement
- Research and develop historical content to support fundraising, alumni relations, marketing, and communications activities.
- Contribute to publications, exhibitions, anniversary projects, and campaign storytelling.
- Respond to archive enquiries and provide research support for internal and external audiences.
- Identify and share stories that celebrate the School’ s heritage and community.
Stakeholder Support
- Support alumni, development, and school events through the provision of archive materials and historical content.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the School on heritage projects, commemorations, and special initiatives.
- Promote engagement with the archive through talks, displays, exhibitions, and other outreach activities.
Essential
- Professional experience in archive or collections management.
- Knowledge of archive cataloguing standards and best practice. Experience of archive digitisation and collections care.
- Strong organisational, research, and information management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.
Desirable
- Experience within an educational, heritage, museum, or cultural organisation.
- Knowledge of digital preservation and archive management systems.
- Experience supporting exhibitions, public engagement, or outreach projects.
- Interest in using archives to support fundraising, alumni engagement, and institutional storytelling.
