Chemical Process Operator
Hands-on production. Real equipment. Materials that can help decarbonise the world.
Why this role exists
Promethean Particles is scaling the production of a new class of materials - metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) - that can play an important role in more energy-efficient carbon capture.
This means real manufacturing work, not theoretical development:
- Full-scale and pilot-scale reactor systems
- Chemical processing and post-processing equipment
- Pumps, pipework, filter presses and ovens
- Safety-critical procedures and quality standards
- Products being manufactured for real-world use
We’re looking for a Process Operator who enjoys practical, hands-on manufacturing and wants to be part of a growing production team working on technology with genuine environmental impact.
This role is a 9-5 role, not shift work.
Who this role is best suited to
This role is ideal for someone who has worked in a manufacturing, production, processing, or industrial environment and enjoys doing things properly.
You don’t need to have worked with nanomaterials before. What matters is that you are practical, reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable following processes carefully while working as part of a team.
You’re likely to be a strong fit if you:
- Have experience in manufacturing, production, processing, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and drink, brewing, distilling, or a similar environment
- Enjoy hands-on work with equipment and physical processes
- Take pride in accuracy, cleanliness, and doing the job properly
- Understand the importance of safety, PPE, procedures, and good record-keeping
- Communicate clearly and work well with others
- Want to build your skills in a growing advanced materials business
What you’ll actually be doing
You’ll join Promethean’s Production and Engineering team, helping manufacture high-specification nanomaterials using pilot-scale and full-scale reactor systems.
Your work will include:
- Supporting production using full-scale and pilot-scale reactors
- Carrying out post-processing activities using pumps, pipework, filter presses, ovens, and related equipment
- Following Standard Operating Procedures and working safely at all times
- Recording production data clearly and accurately
- Helping ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe operating environment
- Working closely with colleagues in Production, Engineering, and Process Development
- Supporting basic equipment checks, cleaning, and maintenance tasks where appropriate
This is a site-based, hands-on production role. It will suit someone who likes being close to the process, working with equipment, and seeing the results of their work.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with the right attitude, practical mindset, and attention to detail.
You’ll need:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, processing, or similar environment
- Good written and spoken English
- The ability to record data accurately and clearly
- Strong communication skills
- A good understanding of safe working practices
- Awareness of PPE requirements and COSHH principles
- A willingness to work in a commercial environment where confidentiality matters
- Full, unrestricted right to work in the UK - we are not offering visa sponsorship for this role
It would also be helpful if you have experience with:
- Chemical manufacturing
- Pharmaceuticals
- Food and drink manufacturing
- Brewing or distilling
- Pumps and pipework
- Filter presses or other separation equipment
- COSHH, risk assessments, or HAZOP
- Basic maintenance tasks
Why this is a strong move
This is a chance to join a growing advanced materials company at an exciting stage of scale-up.
You’ll gain practical experience with specialist manufacturing equipment, work closely with technical teams, and contribute to the production of materials with real-world environmental applications.
For someone who enjoys hands-on production and wants to develop in a modern manufacturing environment, this is a strong opportunity to build valuable skills.
