Damper Technology Ltd is a global provider of flow control and isolation damper valves; specializing in complex and bespoke high-temperature dampers for critical applications. With a commitment to innovation and excellence, we cater for many diverse industries including Power Generation, Carbon Capture, Oil & Gas and Marine.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for an ambitious and capable Assistant Engineering Project Manager to join our team and play a key role in delivering successful projects from enquiry through to completion.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Projects, you will support and manage the delivery of engineering projects, taking ownership of smaller contracts while assisting on larger, more complex programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to develop their technical and commercial skills within a supportive, hands-on environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage allocated projects from order receipt through design, manufacture, testing, and delivery
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments (design, production, QA, and procurement) to ensure project requirements are met on time and within budget
- Review customer specifications, technical drawings, and contractual documents
- Prepare and maintain project schedules, progress reports, and documentation packages
- Support quotation and tender activities, including technical input and cost estimation
- Attend internal and external project meetings, including site visits where required
- Identify and manage project risks, escalating issues to senior management when appropriate
- Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety, and environmental standards throughout project delivery
Essential
- Degree (or HNC/HND with relevant experience) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with confidence in a customer-facing role
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project or equivalent)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
Desirable
- Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment (placements and internships welcomed)
- Knowledge of dampers, valves, fabrications, or similar bespoke engineered products
- Awareness of project management principles or methodologies (e.g. PRINCE2, APM)
- Familiarity with contract review, ITPs, and quality documentation
- Full UK driving licence
