Join the Heart of Bright Fields School – We’re Hiring a Dedicated Caretaker!

Position: School Caretaker

Location: Bright Fields School, Retford, Nottinghamshire

Hours: Full-time (with occasional evenings/weekends)

Salary: £26,000 - £29,000 per annum

Bright Fields School is a vibrant, nurturing SEN (Special Educational Needs) school dedicated to empowering young people with diverse needs to thrive. Our mission is simple: provide a safe, inspiring, and inclusive environment where every student reach their true potential.

We are now seeking a reliable, hands-on, and proactive Caretaker to join our friendly team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a supportive school community where your contribution truly matters.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Ensuring the school site is safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained
Carrying out minor repairs, basic maintenance, and decorating
Ensuring the site meets Health and Safety Standards
Supporting with setting up for school events and activities
Overseeing contractors and monitoring site safety
Opening/locking the premises and ensuring health and safety standards are met
General groundskeeping

Who We’re Looking For:

Someone practical and trustworthy with a “can-do” attitude
Experience in a maintenance or caretaking role (essential)
An understanding of health & safety procedures
Experience completing Risk Assessment and Health & Safety reports
A commitment to creating a supportive environment for students with SEN
Willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check
