About the role

We’re seeking a Solicitor or Associate to join our successful Agricultural Property team based in our Romsey office.

You’ll be joining our Band 1 ranked Agricultural Property team, working closely with one of our Senior Associates. This is an invaluable opportunity to contribute your existing property experience while continuing to learn and develop within a highly regarded Agricultural Property team. With support and guidance from experienced colleagues, you'll also have the opportunity to develop specialist expertise in advising on agricultural partnerships and trusts, building a valuable niche skillset alongside your broader property practice.

The team has a strong culture of delegation, collaboration, and supporting individuals in achieving their progression and career development goals.

Day to day, you will have a varied caseload, including:

Handling agricultural and rural property transactions including transfers of land and property between family members, partnerships, companies and trusts
Dealing with property work associated with partnership and LLP agreements for farming families and rural businesses
Supporting on property work associated with succession planning and estate restructuring including grazing licences and occupational arrangements
Working on overage, options, easements and rights affecting rural land
Handling SDLT, CGT and IHT-related aspects of rural transactions, and working with tax advisers where appropriate

We are ideally looking for someone to fill this role on a full-time basis but will consider candidates looking for part-time as well.

Whilst this role is based in the Romsey office there will be the opportunity for you to work with other fee earners based at our other offices.

About you

We’re extremely proud of the relationship we’ve built with our clients and referrers, being recognised as their trusted legal partner. It’s important to us that you have the right blend of skills to service their needs and develop new relationships:

Previous property experience is essential. Experience within the agricultural sector is preferred, but candidates with Commercial or Residential Property experience will also be considered
You will be a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive with 25 years' PQE or able to demonstrate equivalent property experience
An interest in the agricultural sector, together with a willingness to learn and develop specialist knowledge in this area
A desire to develop expertise in agricultural partnerships and trusts, working closely with and supporting our Senior Associate. Previous experience in this area is not required
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt your approach to a range of clients and stakeholders
