Vale Automotive has been investing hard in its workshop, with new bays, up-to-date diagnostics, proper lifts and current tooling. We're looking for a skilled car mechanic with light commercial vehicle experience to join our team and grow with us.
About Vale Automotive
We're an independent garage and certified MOT test centre based at Langar Airfield, just outside Nottingham. We're part of the OTB Group, a family of three businesses at Langar, and we run a busy day-to-day mix of MOT testing, servicing and repair work for cars and light commercial vehicles, both for our sister company's fleet and for the wider public.

The day-to-day
You'll work on a genuinely varied mix of vehicles across cars and light commercial vans:
- Cars. Full service, repair and MOT work across a wide spread of makes and models for the general public.
- Light commercial vans, including our sister company's fleet of Renault Masters, plus public vans booked in for service, repair and MOT.
- MOT preparation and testing to DVSA standards. Class 4 and Class 7
- Diagnostics and fault-finding using modern scan tools.
- Plus the occasional motorhome, taxi or dual-purpose vehicle that comes through the door.
You'll use GarageHive to manage your jobs, times and parts from start to finish, and you'll work alongside a tight, experienced team with a lot of combined knowledge.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a qualified vehicle technician.
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in light vehicle maintenance.
- Strong diagnostic ability, confident with scan tools and fault-finding.
- LCV / van experience strongly preferred.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Takes pride in doing the job properly, first time.
- Comfortable working to MOT standards.
Nice to have (not essential)
- MOT tester qualification for Class 4 or Class 7. If you don't have it, we'll support you to get it.
- Air-conditioning qualification (F-gas).
- Welding or basic body-repair experience.
- Hybrid or EV familiarity.
Hours
- Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00.
- Paid one-hour lunch break.
- Overtime available when needed.
