Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Horticulturist / Head Gardener to lead and oversee the maintenance and development of our landscaped areas. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in horticulture and gardening, with the ability to manage a team and ensure the highest standards of landscape presentation. Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and supervise all aspects of landscape maintenance and horticultural activities.
- utilise hand tools, power tools, and irrigation systems to maintain gardens, lawns, and plant displays.
- Implement planting schemes, pruning, fertilising, and pest control measures to promote healthy growth.
- Oversee the installation of new plantings and landscape features in accordance with design specifications.
- Manage irrigation systems to ensure efficient water use and plant health.
- Maintain detailed records of plant health, fertilisation schedules, and maintenance activities.
- Lead a team of gardening staff, providing training and guidance on best practices.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and environmental standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in gardening, horticulture, or landscape maintenance roles.
- Strong knowledge of growing techniques, plant care, and landscape design principles.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, irrigation systems, and other gardening equipment.
- Experience in managing or leading a team within a horticultural setting.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- A recognised qualification in horticulture or related field is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining high standards of safety and professionalism.
- Good communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients alike.
Pay: £28,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
