Clockwork Scenery is looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join our busy scenery workshop. We design and manufacture bespoke scenery and technical installations for theatre, cruise ships, live events and entertainment venues worldwide.
Initial 2 month contract but could easily become a full time position.
This is a varied, practical role creating everything from scenic frames and stage structures to intricate metalwork, aluminium truss, rolling scenery and bespoke technical components. No two projects are quite the same.
Responsibilities
- Fabricating scenery and stage structures from technical drawings
- MIG and TIG welding of mild steel and aluminium
- Cutting, drilling, grinding and preparing materials
- Producing accurate, tidy work to a high standard
- Assembling and fitting fabricated components
- Working closely with project managers, designers and other workshop departments
- Helping with load-ins, installations and site work when required
- Maintaining a safe, organised working area
- Checking finished work for accuracy and quality
Skills and experience
- Previous professional welding and fabrication experience
- Confident MIG welding mild steel
- TIG welding and aluminium fabrication experience are highly desirable
- Ability to read and work from technical drawings
- Good understanding of workshop machinery and fabrication processes
- Accurate, practical and able to solve problems
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Able to work to deadlines in a fast-moving project environment
- A full UK driving licence would be beneficial
Experience in theatre, scenery, events, exhibition, film or specialist fabrication would be useful but is not essential. We are more interested in strong fabrication skills, a good attitude and the ability to adapt to unusual projects.

Some projects may require overtime, weekend work or travel within the UK and overseas. Any travel requirements will be discussed in advance.
Pay: £18.00-£25.00 per hour
