TBG Solutions are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with strong SolidWorks experience to design bespoke precision mechanical systems, fixtures and test equipment used within demanding engineering environments.
We are particularly interested in engineers who have worked within aerospace, aviation, medical devices or oil & gas sectors, where high standards of engineering documentation, precision manufacturing and reliability are essential.
This role involves developing custom mechanical solutions that integrate with electrical and software systems to solve complex engineering challenges for our customers across the UK.

The role:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take customer requirements and develop manufacturable mechanical designs that integrate with wider electrical and control systems. You will be responsible for producing 3D models, manufacturing drawings and engineering documentation that allow our production teams to build reliable and high-quality solutions.
Typical projects include:
- Bespoke test equipment.
- Precision mechanical fixtures.
- Enclosures and mechanical interfaces.
- Electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Custom mechanical systems integrated with automation and control solutions.
Minimum requirements:
To be considered for this role you must have:
- Minimum 5 years recent Mechanical Design experience using SolidWorks.
- Experience designing precision mechanical components, fixtures or enclosures.
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings to BS8888 or equivalent standards.
- Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience working within a design engineering environment.
- Understanding of common manufacturing processes involved with machining, fabrication and sheet metal.
- Ability to commute to our Barlborough office on a regular basis.
Key responsibilities:
- Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Produce high-quality 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings.
- Generate and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Design components with manufacturability, cost and performance in mind.
- Develop new concepts and present engineering solutions internally and to customers.
- Support production and installation teams during build and deployment.
- Maintain engineering documentation and revision control to BS8888/ISO9001 standards.
- Collaborate with electrical, software and production teams on integrated systems.
