Reporting directly to senior management, you will be responsible for maintaining our BRCGS Packaging Materials certification, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving a positive health and safety culture throughout the business.
This is a hands-on role requiring excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively across all departments within a busy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
BRCGS & Quality Compliance
- Maintain and continuously improve the BRCGS Packaging Materials Management System.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with BRCGS standards and customer requirements.
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate internal audits.
- Manage corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) arising from audits, inspections, and customer feedback.
- Prepare for and support external audits and customer visits.
- Control and maintain quality documentation, procedures, and records.
- Monitor non-conformances and implement improvement initiatives.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective action processes.
Health & Safety
- Maintain compliance with all relevant Health & Safety legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Manage accident, incident, and near-miss reporting and investigations.
- Deliver Health & Safety inductions and ongoing employee training.
- Coordinate workplace inspections and safety audits.
- Support managers in promoting a strong safety culture throughout the site.
- Monitor contractor compliance and site safety requirements.
- Ensure Health & Safety policies and procedures remain current and effective.
General
- Liaise with production, quality, maintenance, and management teams.
- Produce compliance and performance reports for senior management.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across quality and safety systems.
- Support environmental and sustainability initiatives where required.
Skills & Experience
Not Essential
- Previous experience managing or supporting BRCGS standards within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
- Experience conducting internal audits and managing corrective actions.
- Strong administrative and document control skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively.
Desirable
- Experience within flexographic printing, packaging, labels, or related manufacturing sectors.
- Internal Auditor qualification.
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience with ISO management systems.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles.
