Contract: Fixed Term (2 years)

Salary: £20,740 - £24,296 per annum (dependent on age)

Hours: 36.66 per week

Location: Oldham Archives, Ashcroft Street, OL1 1HY

Closing Date: Monday 290 June 2026

Role Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed apprentice to help us deliver a great service to users of Oldham Archives. You will learn about local heritage and our important collections relating to life in the borough of Oldham. You will assist in the delivery of a customer focused effective, efficient and high -quality service for all members of the public and you will assist with the security and care of Local Studies & Archives collections

Key Responsibilities:

Providing a first point of contact with customers- welcoming visitors and providing information to support their visit
To provide services to the public including sales, advice and information
To support and assist with public events and group visits
To assist customers with the use of digital resources including computers scanners, photocopiers etc
Assisting with heritage enquiries including searching catalogues and databases and retrieving items from storage

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role you will need as a minimum:

An interest in heritage
Ability to use IT applications including Microsoft Office programmes and internet browsers
Literacy and numeracy skills (Level 2 or equivalent)
Good communication skills
Team-working skills
Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, including evenings, weekends and at different locations as required
Experience of customer service is desirable
