We are looking for a passionate and experienced Preschool Room Leader to join our team at Shenfield Day Nursery.

This is a genuine leadership role where you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our preschool room, lead and support your team, and help provide an exceptional learning and care experience for children preparing for their next stage of education.

Shenfield Day Nursery is a well-established, independent nursery in the heart of Shenfield, caring for children from babies through to preschool age.

About the Role

As Preschool Room Leader, you will lead the day-to-day running of the preschool room and provide support, guidance and leadership to the team.

You will work closely with the Nursery Manager and wider leadership team to ensure that children receive consistently high-quality care, education and support.

This is a hands-on role. You will be actively involved in the daily life of the room while leading by example and supporting your team to deliver high standards of practice.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading the day-to-day organisation and running of the preschool room
Leading, supporting and motivating the preschool team
Promoting a positive, supportive and collaborative team environment
Acting as a positive role model for colleagues and children
Supporting practitioners with their professional development and best practice
Planning and delivering engaging experiences based on children's interests, development and individual needs
Ensuring the effective implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Monitoring children's learning, development and progress
Ensuring observations, assessments and records are accurate and up to date
Building strong and positive relationships with parents and carers
Ensuring the key person system is effectively implemented
Creating a stimulating, inclusive and nurturing environment
Supporting the Nursery Manager with safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and regulatory requirements
Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of practice within the nursery

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is:

Qualified to at least Level 3 in Early Years Education and Childcare or equivalent
Experienced in a senior practitioner, room leader or similar leadership role
Confident leading and supporting a team
Passionate about early years education and children's development
Knowledgeable about the EYFS
Organised, reliable and able to take responsibility
A strong communicator who can build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Enthusiastic, positive and keen to contribute to a strong team culture

A current enhanced DBS check is required, or you must be willing to obtain one.
