Job Summary
Lily House Care Home in Ely are currently seeking an Activities Assistant to work 30 hours a week.
Lily House is situated on the outskirts of the city of Ely and can offer up to forty-four residents a wide range of elderly care needs, specialising in provision for people living with a form of Dementia.
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with seniors, and will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, including those requiring dementia care.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist residents in participating in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout.
- Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff to promote participation and gather feedback on activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and preferences to help tailor future activities.
- Collaborate with other team members to create a supportive environment that fosters social interaction and emotional well-being.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of activity spaces, ensuring they are clean and organised for each session.
- Provide support during special events or outings, ensuring all residents are included and engaged.
Skills
- Previous experience in assisted living, care homes, or nursing homes is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors and their families.
- A genuine interest in senior care, particularly in understanding the needs of individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in various situations.
- Organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- A compassionate approach with patience and empathy towards residents' needs.
