Job Description
Data Entry Assistant
Details: The role is a 9 month fixed term contract and offering part time hours. We are looking for 2.5 days per week and we are flexible on how this is worked so it can be spread across multiple days if you wish. Hybrid working is offered and Tuesday is the teams anchor day so you will be required to be in the office, however, you are free to work from home the rest of the time if you wish.
Role Purpose
The Data Entry Assistant is responsible for inputting and managing information in systems and databases. Their main duties include collecting data from various sources, creating and updating databased, reviewing records, checking data for accuracy and completeness, updating existing records with new information, providing update reports, and retrieving files from the database.
The Data Entry Assistant will work with various types of data, including financial records, organisation profiles, and survey responses. The nature of the data may vary depending on the task.
Key Responsibilities
Enter new data into our databases and related systems accurately and consistently.
Update existing organisation, capability, and survey records.
Catalogue and tag data using agreed classifications, taxonomies, and naming conventions.
Verify information by comparing records against approved sources.
Check data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency before it is used in reporting or analysis.
Identify missing, duplicate, or inconsistent records and escalate issues where needed.
Retrieve data and records in response to clearly defined requests.
Prepare spreadsheets and data extracts for periodic reports, dashboards, or Analyst review.
Support basic data cleaning and formatting tasks.
Maintain organised records of data sources, updates, and changes.
Support the team with administrative tasks related to data collection, data entry, and record keeping.
Follow agreed processes for data handling, confidentiality, and quality assurance.
Undertake other protracted tasks as required from time to time.
Skills & Experience Required
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good computer literacy with excellent knowledge of word processing tools and spreadsheets (MS Office Word, Excel, etc.).
Ability to work with spreadsheets and structured information.
Basic knowledge of databases, such as Dynamics, and database management tools.
Good command of English, both oral and written.
Good numeracy skills.
Ability to follow instructions, processes, and naming conventions consistently.
Ability to work to deadlines and manage repetitive tasks accurately.
Organised, methodical, and reliable approach to work.
Desirable:
Experience in data entry, administration, business support, research support, finance administration, or records management.
Basic experience using Microsoft Dynamics, CRM systems, survey tools, or database platforms.
Experience handling organisation records, survey responses, financial data, or operational datasets.
Interest in research, data analysis, innovation, economic development, or the UK space sector.
