Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Tax Director to lead our organisation’s tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in financial and tech services and accounting, with the ability to oversee complex tax strategies and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
This role offers an opportunity to influence organisational growth through expert tax management and planning. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent analysis skills and proficiency with accounting software such as TRCS, SAP, OneSource, Alpha tax, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other relevant tools.
Duties:
- Global tax compliance leadership — Lead UK, US, EMEA, APAC and LATAM compliance cycles, including CT returns, WHT submissions, residency forms, Patent Box, R&D claims, and global statutory reporting.
- Group tax provisioning & reporting — Direct quarterly and year‑end tax provisioning, IFRS/US GAAP tax notes, deferred tax, CBCR, Pillar 2, and consolidation of multi‑jurisdiction tax inputs.
- International tax structuring — Advise on cross‑border transactions, PE risk, customs/excise, repatriation, debt structuring, NOL utilisation, rollover reliefs, and special regimes across global groups.
- - Transfer pricing governance — Develop TP policies, intra‑group agreements, cost allocation models, recharges, documentation, and support tax‑efficient cross‑border cash movements.
- Tax risk management — Build and maintained tax risk registers, RACM documentation, SAO compliance, CCO risk assessments, governance frameworks, and internal audit assurance reviews.
- Tax transformation & process optimisation — Design TOMs, MS Project plans, Visio process flows, automation tools, ERP tax requirements (SAP, NetSuite, D365), and improve tax workflows.
- Post‑M&A tax integration — Lead tax integration for technology and energy groups, aligning systems, reporting, entity structures, and tax processes following acquisitions.
- Tax authority management — Manage HMRC, IRS, and foreign tax authority interactions, resolve audits,and ensured compliant global submissions.
- Group restructuring & simplification — Deliver legal entity rationalisation, STEP plans, operational model redesign, and tax‑efficient restructuring for multinational groups.
- - Leadership & stakeholder advisory — Advise CFOs, CEOs, and boards; led tax teams; trained HR and finance on tax policies; and provided commercial tax guidance across multiple sectors.
- Requirements
- Extensive multinational tax leadership — Proven experience leading tax functions across technology, oil & gas/energy transition, entertainment, pharmaceuticals, private‑equity backed groups, and financial services.
- Deep US & UK tax expertise — Strong understanding of US and UK tax laws, compliance procedures, cross‑border rules, WHT, residency, and multinational reporting across EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and the US.
- Advanced tax technology proficiency — Skilled in AlphaTax, TRCS, Sage, Xero, MS Project, MS Visio, and ERP systems including SAP FICO, NetSuite Oracle, D365, and Blackline.
- High‑level tax accounting capability — Demonstrated expertise in IFRS/US GAAP tax reporting, deferred tax, CBCR, Pillar 2, modelling, tax notes, disclosures, and complex multinational tax analysis.
- Strong financial operations oversight — Experience managing tax‑related accounts payable processes, WHT payments, tax payments on account, and global tax authority submissions.
- Exceptional leadership & team management — Ability to lead tax teams, design TOMs, improve governance frameworks, and manage cross‑functional stakeholders across global groups.
- Advanced analytical & problem‑solving skills — Strong analytical capability with meticulous attention to detail in interpreting financial and tax data across complex multinational structures.
- Professional tax & accounting qualifications — CIMA, CPA‑Aust, CTA (SA), progressing toward CTA‑UK; MBA and postgraduate tax qualifications.
- Ability to operate independently under pressure — Proven ability to deliver high‑accuracy outputs under tight deadlines while managing multiple jurisdictions and complex tax environments.
Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
