About Oxford Harlequins RFC

Oxford Harlequins RFC (Oxford Quins) is one of Oxford's longest-established rugby clubs, based at Horspath Sports Ground. We are a thriving community club with men's, women's, and junior sections competing across regional leagues. Our clubhouse is a busy social hub on training nights, match days, and club events throughout the season and over the summer,

Role Overview

We are looking for friendly, reliable casual bar staff to support the Clubhouse General Manager in delivering an excellent bar service to our members and guests. This is a flexible, casual role suited to individuals who can commit to match-day and event shifts, with hours varying week to week in line with the club's fixture and event schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Serve drinks across the bar efficiently and in accordance with licensing requirements
Operate the till accurately, handle cash and card transactions, and reconcile at end of shift
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the bar area throughout service
Restock fridges, shelves, and consumables as required
Adhere to Challenge 25 and responsible service of alcohol procedures
Support the set-up and close-down of the bar before and after events
Assist with basic food service (e.g. plating or distributing match-day catering) when required
Act as a positive ambassador for the club, welcoming members, visitors, and opposition teams
Report any maintenance, safety, or licensing concerns to the Clubhouse General Manager

Person Specification

Essential

Over 18s only
Previous bar or hospitality experience
Reliable, punctual, and professional manner
Confident and friendly when dealing with the public
Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends

Desirable

Personal Licence or Award for Personal Licence Holders (APLH)
First Aid at Work certificate
Experience in a sports club, events, or community venue
Knowledge of or interest in rugby

General Requirements

Right to work in the UK
Willingness to undertake a DBS check if required
Compliance with all club policies, including health & safety and safeguarding

Pay: £13.00-£13.50 per hour
