We welcome applications from substantive Detective Inspectors for the role of Detective Inspector within the Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU).

The Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU) forms part of a national infrastructure designed to deliver a comprehensive intelligence picture of the threat posed by serious and organised crime across the South-East. This intelligence supports operational decision-making and helps identify opportunities for enforcement activity.

The SIU plays a key role in accessing and safeguarding sensitive material, managing and disseminating intelligence obtained from a wide range of protected sources.

You will continue to maintain the SIU’s strong reputation by building and sustaining effective relationships with national partners. Through these partnerships, you will help instil confidence in the SEROCU SIU as a centre of excellence, ensuring that South-East policing remains at the forefront of technological and intelligence capabilities.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Sensitive Intelligence Unit, ensuring effective risk management and compliance, and that the unit continues to support and deliver against organisational priorities.

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the South East region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

You will be also required to perform on-call as part of this role.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
