Full job description

Would you like to develop your skills and undertake a rewarding nursing career within Stroke Rehabilitation?

We are seeking highly motivated registered nurses who have experience in stroke rehabilitation or nurses who would like to make the change to develop in this specialist area.

You will be provided with an excellent induction, clinical and managerial supervision, inhouse and external training opportunities, all whilst working in a supportive friendly environment.

You will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. Work closely with the multi-disciplinary team and contribute to the clinical governance process. Act as a mentor/preceptor to junior staff, with specific responsibility for pre-registration students. The post holder will take delegated responsibility for the management of the clinical team and the maintenance of high standards of quality patient care on a shift to shift basis.

OSRU provides stroke rehabilitation care along with more advanced sub-acute nursing skills such as cannulation, phlebotomy, IV care, NG management and complex discharge planning.

We believe in developing our staff and have training opportunities available to help you nourish and grow in this role. Our team values everyone’s contributions and we are always looking at new initiatives to help our patients' recovery. Our multidisciplinary team are encouraged to actively participate in several projects running within the service and as an active research unit, we collaborate with teams from the University of Oxford.

The Oxfordshire Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at Abingdon Community Hospital provides specialist rehabilitation for patients in Oxfordshire who have had an acute stroke. We work as a cohesive multi professional team, supporting patients' recovery which will enable them to return home or move to other care settings.

Candidates must have passed OSCE with full NMC registration.
