We are looking for an experienced Materials and Planning Manager to lead our Planning and Stores teams, ensuring production is effectively organised to meet customer demand and quality standards. This role is critical in driving on time delivery, maximising plant utilisation, and maintaining alignment across the supply chain through effective planning tools and processes.
The successful candidate will also manage a portfolio of local suppliers to support subcontracted work when demand exceeds internal capacity. You will play a key role in identifying risks within the supply chain, developing mitigation plans, and building strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Ensure the timely release of work to production.
Confirm customer orders in line with material availability and plant capacity.
Monitor the progress of Manufacturing Orders through all production areas.
Ensure operational plans meet customer demand requirements.
Identify risks to the Master Production Plan and implement corrective action plans.
Support level-loaded production planning and plant utilisation improvements.
Oversee Warehouse staff and day-to-day warehouse operations.
Provide technical support and guidance to inventory control teams.
Drive reduction of purchased inventory and Work in Progress (WIP).
Ensure material availability to support production schedules.
Identify risks and threats within the internal and external supply chain.
Expedite supplier and internal orders to support production schedules.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and stakeholders.
Manage subcontract suppliers to support production demand when required.
Analyse existing planning and supply chain processes using data to identify improvements.
Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives across the business.
Drive efficiencies in production planning, stock control, and supply chain operations.
Previous experience in a Materials Planning, Production Planning, or Supply Chain Management role within a manufacturing environment.
Experience working with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
Strong Excel and analytical skills.
Knowledge and experience of Lean Manufacturing principles; Six Sigma experience would be advantageous.
APICS/CPIM qualification is desirable but not essential.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across all business functions.
A proactive self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Ability to prioritise workloads and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced environment.
