About the role
Subject to contract award we are looking for dedicated professional to join us as an Employment Specialist.
As an Employment Specialist - Connect to Work, you will support people with disabilities, health conditions, neurodiverse needs and other significant barriers to employment to move closer to, secure and sustain paid work.
You will build trusted relationships, understand individual strengths and aspirations, and provide tailored support that helps people progress towards realistic employment goals.
Working across local communities, employers and partner organisations, you will help participants overcome barriers, develop confidence and achieve sustainable employment outcomes.
This role would suit someone who is empathetic, resilient and highly organised, with a genuine commitment to helping people achieve positive and lasting change.
What you will do

Build trusted relationships with participants and develop personalised action plans based on their strengths, goals and aspirations

Support individuals with disabilities, health conditions, neurodiverse needs and other barriers to employment

Help participants improve confidence, identify suitable career pathways and progress towards sustainable employment

Support participants with CV development, applications, job searching and interview preparation

Build relationships with employers to identify suitable opportunities and promote inclusive recruitment practices

Support participants to access workplace adjustments and other support that may help them succeed in employment
-
Work collaboratively with health professionals, community organisations and referral partners to coordinate support

Provide ongoing support to participants and employers to help sustain successful employment outcomes

Maintain accurate participant records and deliver services in line with programme requirements, safeguarding standards and compliance expectations

Keep accurate records and follow required processes

Communicate clearly with participants, colleagues and external partners

Minimum essential criteria
To be considered for this role, you will need to evidence in your CV that you meet the minimum essential criteria below:

Experience supporting individuals to achieve employment, training, education, wellbeing or personal development outcomes

Experience working with people who may face barriers to employment, learning or progression

Ability to build positive and trusting relationships with a diverse range of individuals

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
-
Good organisation, attention to detail and ability to follow agreed processes

Evidence of commitment and follow-through in previous roles, education, volunteering or other responsibilities
-
Evidence of delivering outcomes, targets, tasks, projects or agreed objectives
-
Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to work
-
Ability to explain your employment history clearly, including any gaps or short-term roles
-
Confidence using digital systems, email and Microsoft Office
-
Ability to work in a structured environment where quality, compliance and outcomes are monitored

Willingness to complete all required recruitment checks, including right to work, references and DBS checks where required

Desirable criteria
It would be helpful if you have:

Experience supporting people with disabilities, long-term health conditions, neurodiverse needs or other complex support requirements
-
Experience within employability, supported employment, careers guidance, welfare-to-work, housing, social care, education, youth work or health services
-
Knowledge of supported employment approaches, including the Supported Employment Quality Framework (SEQF) or Individual Placement and Support (IPS)
-
Advice and Guidance, Careers, Employability, Coaching or related qualifications
-
Experience engaging with employers and supporting individuals into sustainable employment
-
Understanding of reasonable adjustments, workplace inclusion and disability confident practices
